Answer

At the Downcity Library, the most common fines and fees are:

Books:

  • Overdue: 10 cents a day
  • Lost books: $60 replacement fee (if you return it, charge is reduced to a $10 late fee)

DVDs or Videos:

  • Overdue: 25 cents per day
  • Lost DVDs or Videos: $85 replacement fee (if you return it, charge is reduced to a $10 late fee)

The maximum charge for overdue items is $20, and for lost items is $100.

*Note: Some fines may vary at the Harborside Library.

The library accepts cash or checks, but not credit cards. You must pay your outstanding library fines in order to get your diploma when you graduate!

Contact the Circulation Desk at 401-598-1098 (Downcity) or 401-598-1466 (Harborside) with any questions!

Other HELIN libraries have their own policies for fines, fees, and methods of payment. You'll need to contact those libraries directly to pay any fines you may owe.
