How do I request a book?

Getting a book from another library is easy!

  • Use the library catalog to find a book you want that isn't available at our library.
  • Books come from many local academic libraries.
  • Sorry, you can't request books from JWU campuses in other states.

To request a book:

  • Click the orange "Request it" checkmark.
  • Enter your name and library barcode (not your J number, but the number near the barcode on your JWU ID).
  • Select a copy of the book that's "AVAILABLE" and choose where you'd like to pick it up. The Downcity library is automatically selected, but you can pull down the menu and pick Harborside instead.
  • Click the "Submit" button.

Books take 2-5 business days to arrive, and can be returned at at either of our libraries.

Please note: Requesting from Brown University is different!
