Generally speaking, most JWU books:
- Can be checked out for 8 weeks.
- Can be renewed twice, unless someone else has requested the item.
Books on "Reserve" (for example, the library has some textbooks) may be used for 2 hours in the library only, with no renewals.
Reference books from the Downcity library can be checked out for 14 days.
Reference books from Harborside library vary, but anywhere from 2 hours to 4 weeks, depending on the item.
DVDs can be checked out for 28 days.
JWU also belongs to a consortium of other libraries (HELIN) which have their own policies about how long items can be checked out, but they are usually similar.
If you are a faculty or staff member, you'll generally get to keep items for longer than the standard loan.
Please ask a librarian for clarification since certain items might fall outside of these general parameters.
