Ordering a “Pay-Per-View” Document from ScienceDirect
Pay-Per-View articles are paid for by the University Library and can be requested, free of charge, by current JWU Students, Faculty, and Staff.
Orders are typically reviewed/processed Mon-Fri 9am-4pm.
These instructions are also available as a PDF at the end of this LibGuide
- Using the Search Bar on the Library Homepage, find the article you need:
- After hitting “🔍 Search” find your desired article on the list of results and click the “View Full Text” box to follow the link to the article on ScienceDirect:
- Once you’re on the landing page for the ScienceDirect article, you’ll have a couple of options. If “View PDF” is clickable, then you have access and can immediately open/download the full-text article, otherwise you will need to submit a request for the article to your Librarian. To do so, start by clicking on the “Order PDF” button:
- Clicking “Order PDF” will bring you to a new page asking for some details from you. Please provide your first and last name, your JWU email address, and any additional information that you think might assist the Librarian reviewing your request. When those fields are filled, click “Send” to automatically generate a request email that goes to an article requests inbox, monitored by University Library Staff.
- Once your request has been reviewed and filled, you will receive an email to your JWU email address with the PDF of the article attached.
An Important Note
Processing Librarians for pay-per-view requests are typically in Mon-Fri 9am-4pm and most requests received during those hours will be filled the same day. Requests submitted later in the day or over the weekend may have to wait until the next “business day” to be processed, so plan ahead in relation to your deadline(s) when requesting a ScienceDirect article.
